The paper width is the first specification to check. After confirming the width, check the roll diameter and core size to make sure the roll physically fits your equipment.
2 1/4" vs. 3 1/8" Thermal Paper
The main difference between 2 1/4" and 3 1/8" thermal paper is the paper width.
2 1/4" (57mm) thermal paper is narrower and is commonly used in payment terminals and compact POS equipment.
3 1/8" (80mm) thermal paper is wider and is commonly used in full-size receipt printers and POS systems.
They are not interchangeable. A printer or terminal designed for 2 1/4" paper cannot use a 3 1/8" roll, and vice versa.
Does Thermal Paper Roll Length Matter?
Yes. Roll length affects the outside diameter of the roll.
A longer roll contains more paper, but it also has a larger roll diameter. The roll must fit inside the equipment's paper compartment.

How to Check Thermal Paper Compatibility
